I've heard lots of adjectives used to describe KRudd before, but “humble” isn’t one of them. Perhaps Obama misspoke; perhaps he meant to compare Rudd to Uriah Heep but muffed the lines because of a teleprompter hiccough. Given David Copperfield is said to be largely autobiographical, and Uriah was sentenced to transportation for life, there could be an ancestral connection, which would explain the similarities between Dickens's character and the PM: pale, snakelike, sanctimonious… to name but a few.
